Seva refines and
perfects human being
-
Seva unfolds faculties
of mind and intellect
-
True human qualities
gets expressed through seva
-
Seva makes it possible
to experience divinity
-
World does not need your
seva and it does not come to an end without your seva. You
should render seva for your own sake to become pure and
sanctified, so that you can experience Unity in Diversity.
-
Unity, Purity and
Divinity that is Humanity
-
One cannot cross the ocean of the cycle of births and
deaths by visiting many sacred places, nor can one do it
by performing thapas (penance) and studying shastras (holy
scriptures). It is only possible to do so by performing
Seva, or service."
-
Life without service is
like a house without light.
-
Since God is the indwelling Divine Spirit of all living
beings, doing service or good to a person is in reality
worshiping God
-
LOVE must be manifested as Service or
Seva. Seva must take the form of food for the hungry,
solace for the forlorn, consolation for the sick and the
suffering.
-
But do not believe that you can by means of Seva
(service) reform or reshape the world. You may or may not
achieve this. That does not matter. The real value of Seva
is its most visible result, that it reforms you and
reshapes you. Do Seva as a sadhana (spiritual practice);
then you will be humble and happy.
-
NO service is too low
or mean; every emergency is immediately noticed and
attended to. They need not be sorry that during those days
they had no time to sit for Dhyana or do Japa or even to
go out on Nagarsankirtan! Why? You can have the Name on
the lips, when you sweep the streets or lift a corpse in
the morgue or when you walk towards or away from the area
of distress. People may dub you mad! But be elated that
you are not affected by the insanity they suffer from!
-
DO not consider any act of service as
demeaning. Sweeping the streets, for example, is not below
your dignity. Do you not sweep the floor of your homes? Do
you not scrub and wash off dirt? When you undertake such
tasks, the villagers will also gladly share in them. Why
feel ashamed to be good?
